In February, two orchestral works of mine were done in Carnegie Hall. First, on 2/8/08, I performed the fiddle part of my Concerto for Fiddle and Violin with the amazing Eva Gruesser and the American Composers Orchestra under David Alan Miller in Zankel Hall, and on 2/10 in the Annenberg Center in Philadelphia. The performances were very exciting, on a terrific program entitled "Culture Shock" that featured cross-cultural forays by contemporary composer/performers, including a meditative and spiritually inspiring piece "Remember this, O, Mind" performed by Terry Riley, a terrificly wild and exhilarating improvisational concerto by pianist Uri Caine ("Double Trouble"), and a beautifully shaped piece for for Balinese drummers and orchestra by Michael Tenzer.
